How do you keep a laser-mouse from acting up?

I use a laser-mouse and the hole with the laser catches hairs & miniscule crap. The pointer acts all squirrely and jumps across the screen. I keep a pair tweezers at the computer desk just to pull them out.
Is there anyways to prevent it from happening but still allow the mouse to function normally?

its a Ge wireless optical mouse, around 4 inches long black and silver, there is no model number on it and i cant find any software, below are links to images of it, if you can tell me the model i will be very grateful, and more so if you know where to get drivers for it

When I unplug the old mouse, where do i do that from & why if the new one is wireless, does it need a power source? How far from the mouse does it need to be & do I have to make any adjustments for the new mouse in the Control Panel mouse configurations?

I tried Microsoft Support, Driver Guide & Driver Detective.

or the Logitech MX revolution:

I’m really just looking for a rechargeable mouse that doesn’t lag.

I want to buy a mouse for my laptop, that won’t make me always have to be at a desk, which should I get & why?
